Richard Morgan Joins the Humanitarian Coalition as Executive Director

Appointment coincides with addition of two new member agencies, board members at Canada’s only joint international emergency fundraising partnership

The Humanitarian Coalition is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Morgan as its new Executive Director.

Mr. Morgan arrives at a time of growth, on the heels of the addition of two new members: Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR) and Islamic Relief Canada (IRC). Both CEOs of these agencies, Robert Granke at CLWR and Zaid Al-Rawni at IRC, joined the Board of Directors at the end of January.

“I am looking forward to contributing to the innovative and effective implementation of the Humanitarian Coalition’s cooperative mission, working with our members, partners and Canadians everywhere. It’s an exciting time to be joining the Humanitarian Coalition and its seven member agencies,” he said.

Mr. Morgan brings extensive experience in fundraising, communications, stakeholder relations and strategic partnership from his time working at Trent University and Development and Peace and various governmental roles. He replaces Nicolas Moyer who served as Executive Director since 2007.

“We are excited to have Richard join us. We are entering a new chapter in our efforts to change the way Canadians respond during large-scale international disasters,” said Patricia Erb, Chair of the Board of Directors. “I want to thank Nicolas, who worked tirelessly for the last nine years to bring the Humanitarian Coalition to where it is today – as a leader in the humanitarian fundraising field.”
