Statement on the ceasefire in Lebanon

The Humanitarian Coalition welcomes the recent announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon. We call on all parties to refrain from violence, respect international humanitarian law, and seize this moment to work toward a sustained ceasefire and resolution of the conflict rooted in the dignity and safety of all people.

More than a million people have been displaced by the violence in Lebanon. Some have now begun the return journey home, while some have no home to return to. Others are not sure what they will find left. The humanitarian needs remain significant as families and communities struggle to rebuild their lives.

Our members remain on the ground and will continue to provide life-saving essentials including food, water, shelter, medicine and health services to those most affected by the evolving emergency.

The safety, protection, and well-being of all people in the region must remain a priority. The Humanitarian Coalition and its members continue to call for an immediate and sustained ceasefire in Gaza, along with the release of all hostages and unjustly detained individuals, respect for international humanitarian law and safe and secure humanitarian access.
