Filmmakers invited to participate in refugee crisis film competition

The World Refugee Day campaign has come to a close, but refugees in many countries are still in need. That’s why the Humanitarian Coalition welcomes the efforts of the  the Radcliffe Foundation, which, in collaboration with the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF), launched a $20,000 prize for a short form ‘call-to-action’ film that inspires and engages Canadians to take action on the global refugee crisis.

Humanitarian Coalition Executive Director Nicolas Moyer will be part of the jury tasked to short list the submissions. The other jury members are:

·        Sophie Grégoire Trudeau — public speaker, advocate for women’s issues, and former television host

·        Sarah McLachlan — award-winning artist, entrepreneur and philanthropist

·        Hon. Louise Arbour CC, GOQ — former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and former Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada

·        Craig Kielburger — co-founder of Free the Children

·        Ivan Fecan — chair of Thunderbird Films Inc. and former Canadian media executive

·        Atom Egoyan —acclaimed Canadian director

·        Frank Giustra — president of the Radcliffe Foundation and CEO of the Fiore Group of Companies

·        Ryan Holmes — founder and CEO, Hootsuite Media Inc.
