The Humanitarian Coalition is deeply concerned about the humanitarian impact of flash floods that swept through Nepal's Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts on August 26, leaving thousands of families in need of urgent humanitarian support. At least 350 people have reportedly been killed, with hundreds more missing across Nepal and Tibet. As search and rescue operations continue, the death toll is expected to rise.
All Humanitarian Coalition member organizations are active in Nepal, and members are scaling up emergency relief, including shelter, hygiene and dignity kits, as needs are confirmed on the ground. The sudden floods have swept away or cut off entire communities, with roads, bridges, hydropower facilities, water systems and telecommunications networks badly damaged, leaving affected areas largely inaccessible and families without homes, possessions and livelihoods.
While the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, the Humanitarian Coalition is closely monitoring the situation and standing ready to support the humanitarian response.
