Humanitarian Needs

From late July to September 2025, several tropical storms hit northern and north-central Vietnam. Torrential rains caused widespread floods and landslides across the region, affecting 800,000 people.

The storms caused extensive damage to infrastructure, housing and livelihoods, leaving many families in need of basic necessities like food, education, healthcare, and hygiene products.

Humanitarian Response

Save the Children has been a leader in the humanitarian sector in Vietnam since 1990. They are active in 17 out of 34 provinces and work in partnership with government agencies, civil society organizations, the corporate sector and academic institutions.

To meet urgent needs, Save the Children will provide emergency cash assistance to approximately 1,900 people for four months. They will prioritize households with children, pregnant women and people with disabilities.

At cash distribution sites, Save the Children will also provide community training on protection issues including child protection, gender-based violence, hygiene promotion and disaster risk reduction.
