Women’s rights - Social justice - Emergency response - Long-term development

Mission

To build lasting solutions to poverty and injustice with a focus on improving the lives and promoting the rights of women and girls. Oxfam is committed to strengthening a global movement in support of human rights and gender justice on a healthy planet.

Vision

A just world without poverty. It envisions a world in which people can influence decisions which affect their lives, enjoy their rights, and assume their responsibilities as full citizens in which all human beings are valued and treated equally.

Humanitarian Assistance

Oxfam is a leader in disaster response, whose expertise is providing clean water and sanitation facilities. It also ensures those affected have access to food, basic necessities, shelter and education related to health and hygiene. Oxfam places special emphasis on ensuring women’s needs are taken into account when setting up these essential services. Its public health teams (often consisting of displaced people who’ve received special training) also work alongside water engineers to ensure these facilities are used properly to prevent the spread of disease.
